Developing a Generalized Multi-Level Inverter with Reduced Number of Power Electronics Components

Reducing the number of components power electronic converters has been an important research topic over past few decades. This paper introduces a new structure for multi-level inverter based on reduced switch basic modules. The proposed module requires fewer switches and auxiliary devices. In addition, lesser on-state synthesis each voltage level results in less conduction losses, which enhances converter efficiency. is capable being implemented both symmetrical asymmetrical topologies. merit feature topology, produces high levels with limited elements. controlled using fundamental frequency control scheme. consists six unidirectional five DC sources, generating positive levels. performance recommended topology analyzed from various circuitry parameters, comprehensive comparison carried out similar recent structures. presented reveals advantage different aspects parameters. suggested simulated Matlab/Simulink software, its validated laboratory prototype. are reported steady-state dynamic conditions.
